Wishing Fountain & Gacha System Guide: Every Pool, Rate & Strategy
The Wishing Fountain is Heartopia’s premium reward system — a gacha mechanic that converts Wishing Stars into cosmetics, furniture, mounts, and rare items. For free-to-play players, every pull is precious. This guide breaks down every pool, drop rate, pity mechanic, and the optimal strategy to stretch your stars as far as they’ll go.
Unlocking the Wishing Fountain
The fountain sits in the Town Square, but it’s not functional until you restore it:
- Reach D.G. Guild Level 4 — This unlocks the “Town Square Restoration” questline from Mayor Atara.
- Complete “Restoring the Fountain” — Atara asks you to gather 20 Stone, 10 Crystal Shards, and 5 Gold Ingots. Crystal Shards can be mined or bought from Ka Ching’s (50 Gold each — see our World Map Guide for mining locations).
- Fountain Activated — Once restored, the fountain glows and the gacha interface becomes available. You also unlock the first free pull as a quest reward.
Secret Easter Egg: Jump into the restored fountain 10 times to unlock the hidden Lucky Coin achievement — a permanent +2% Gold earned bonus. This is one of the best free bonuses in the game. See our Achievement Guide for more hidden achievements.
Wishing Star: The Currency
Wishing Stars are the exclusive currency for fountain pulls. You cannot buy them with Gold — they must be earned through gameplay.

Wishing Star Conversion Matrix
You can purchase Wishing Stars through the premium crystal store using Moonlight Crystals:
- 1 Wishing Star = 100 Moonlight Crystals.
- 10 Wishing Stars (10-Pull bundle) = 900 Moonlight Crystals (10% discount).
Pool Types
The Wishing Fountain offers three distinct pools, each with different item tables and availability:
1. Standard Pool (Permanent)
Always available. Contains the base cosmetic and furniture catalog.
- Cost: 1 Wishing Star per pull
- Items: 200+ items including common outfits, basic furniture, dyes, and emotes
- Best for: Filling out your cosmetic collection early game
- Rate-up: None — all items equally likely within their rarity tier
2. Limited Banner (Rotating)
A rotating featured pool that highlights specific item sets. Changes every 2 weeks.
- Cost: 1 Wishing Star per pull (same as Standard)
- Items: 30-50 themed items (e.g., “Forest Fairy Set,” “Knight’s Armor Collection”)
- Rate-up: Featured items have 3x normal drop rate within their rarity tier
- Best for: Targeting a specific themed set you want
- Banner schedule: Check in-game notices or our Seasonal Events Guide for current/ upcoming banners
3. Event Pool (Seasonal)
Available only during seasonal festivals. Contains exclusive event-only items.
- Cost: 1 Wishing Star per pull
- Items: 15-25 exclusive items per event (e.g., “Spring Festival Kimono,” “Halloween Witch Set”)
- Rate-up: Event items have 5x normal drop rate
- Best for: Getting limited-time exclusives that may not return for a full year
- Availability: Only during the event window — see Seasonal Events for the full calendar
Strategy tip: Always pull on Event Pools first when they’re active. Event exclusives are time-limited, while Standard Pool items are always there. Limited Banners are a middle ground — they’ll come back eventually, but not for months.
Rarity System & Drop Rates
Every item in the fountain has a rarity tier. Higher rarity = lower drop rate but more prestigious items.
Rarity Tiers
| Rarity | Drop Rate (Standard) | Drop Rate (Event) | Item Types |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 40% | 30% | Basic dyes, emotes, simple accessories |
| Uncommon | 35% | 30% | Outfit pieces (shirts, pants), basic furniture |
| Rare | 18% | 25% | Full outfit sets, themed furniture, back accessories |
| Epic | 6% | 12% | Premium outfit sets, animated back items, mount skins |
| Legendary | 1% | 3% | Legendary mounts, full cosmetic ensembles with particle effects |

Pity Mechanics
The fountain includes a pity system to guarantee rewards after a streak of bad luck:
Soft Pity
| Pool | Soft Pity Trigger | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 30 pulls without a Rare+ | Next pull has 3x normal Rare+ rate |
| Limited Banner | 25 pulls without a Rare+ | Next pull has 3x normal Rare+ rate |
| Event Pool | 20 pulls without a Rare+ | Next pull has 3x normal Rare+ rate |
Hard Pity (Guaranteed)
| Pool | Hard Pity Trigger | Guaranteed Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 50 pulls without an Epic+ | Guaranteed Epic item on next pull |
| Limited Banner | 40 pulls without an Epic+ | Guaranteed Epic featured item |
| Event Pool | 35 pulls without an Epic+ | Guaranteed Epic event item |
| All Pools | 90 pulls without a Legendary | Guaranteed Legendary item |
Pity carries over within the same pool type. If you do 20 pulls on the Standard Pool and switch to the Limited Banner, your Standard Pool pity counter stays at 20 — it’ll be waiting when you come back. However, Event Pool pity does NOT carry over between different events.
Single Pull vs. 10-Pull
| Feature | Single Pull (x1) | 10-Pull (x10) |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | 1 Star | 10 Stars |
| Drop rates | Identical | Identical |
| Bonus | None | Guaranteed at least 1 Uncommon+ item |
| Speed | Slower (10 animations) | Faster (1 animation, 10 items) |
| Strategy | For testing luck | Always recommended — the Uncommon+ guarantee is free value |
Always do 10-pulls when possible. The guaranteed Uncommon+ saves you from the worst-case scenario of 10 Commons. Save your Stars until you have 10, then pull.

F2P Strategy: Maximizing Your Stars
For players who don’t spend real money on Wishing Stars, efficiency is everything.
Priority Order
- Always pull on active Event Pools first. Event items are time-limited and have the best rate-up (5x). If you skip an event, you may wait a full year for it to return.
- Save for 10-pulls. Never single-pull unless you’re 1 Star away from hard pity on a banner you want.
- Skip Standard Pool entirely early game. Standard Pool items are permanent — you’ll naturally accumulate them over months. Focus Stars on time-limited content.
- Track your pity counter. The game doesn’t display it, but keep a mental note. After 30 pulls on Standard without a Rare+, your next pull is soft-pity boosted.
- Redeem codes immediately. Active codes can give 20+ Stars — enough for two 10-pulls. Check our Active Codes Guide before pulling.
- NPC friendship = free Stars. Every NPC gives 1 Star at Best Friend. With 10 NPCs, that’s 10 free Stars. See our NPC Gift Guide for friendship strategies.
- Museum wings = 5 Stars each. Completing all 4 museum wings gives 20 Stars total — one of the biggest lump sums in the game. See our Museum Donation Guide.
Monthly Budget Example (F2P)
| Source | Stars | Cumulative |
|---|---|---|
| Daily quests (30 days) | 30-45 | 30-45 |
| Hobby milestones (avg) | 2-3 | 32-48 |
| NPC Best Friend (1-2/month) | 1-2 | 33-50 |
| Event participation | 3-5 | 36-55 |
| Codes | 5-10 | 41-65 |
| Monthly total | 41-65 | — |
With 40-65 Stars per month, you can afford 4-6 ten-pulls. That’s enough to hit soft pity at least once per month on your pool of choice.
Spending Real Money (Optional)
For players who want to support the game or accelerate their collection:
| Package | Price | Stars | Bonus | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter Pack | $4.99 | 20 | 5 Growth Boosters | Best first purchase — 50% bonus |
| Monthly Pass | $9.99/mo | 30 + 1 daily | 30/day for 30 days | Best long-term value if active daily |
| Star Bundle | $19.99 | 50 | 10 Stars bonus | Good for targeted banner pulls |
| Whale Pack | $49.99 | 120 | 20 Stars + Legendary ticket | The Legendary ticket guarantees 1 Legendary |
The Monthly Pass is the best value if you play daily — it gives 1 Star per day plus 30 upfront, totaling 60 Stars for $9.99 (vs. 50 Stars for $19.99 in the Star Bundle). But this guide assumes F2P — every strategy above works without spending a cent.
Pro Tips
- Don’t chase Legendaries on Standard Pool. The 1% rate means an average of 90 pulls (hard pity) to guarantee one. Save your Stars for Event Pools where the rate is 3% and items are exclusive.
- Full set bonuses are real. Some outfit sets (Royal Knight, Forest Fairy) grant particle aura effects when all pieces are equipped. They’re purely cosmetic but very flashy — prioritize completing sets over individual pieces.
- Duplicate protection. If you pull an item you already own, the fountain converts it into Stardust (a currency used in the Fountain Shop to buy specific items). 10 Stardust = 1 guaranteed item of your choice from the Standard Pool.
- Friend referral Stars. When a friend uses your referral code, both of you get 3 Wishing Stars. Note: sending a friend request costs 1 Star — see our Multiplayer Guide for details.
- Event overlap strategy. When two events overlap (e.g., Spring Festival ending and Summer Carnival starting), pull on the ending event first. You can always pull on the starting event later — it has a full 2-3 week window.
- Check the banner before pulling. Limited Banners rotate every 2 weeks. Don’t waste Stars on a banner you don’t care about — wait for one that features items you want.
- The Lucky Coin is free. Don’t forget to jump into the fountain 10 times after unlocking it for the permanent +2% Gold bonus. It’s completely free and takes 30 seconds.
- Wishing Stars as NPC gifts. Atara and Ka Ching love Wishing Stars (+3 hearts each). However, this is generally a waste — save your Stars for pulls unless you’re rushing a specific NPC friendship. See our NPC Gift Guide for better gift alternatives.
The Fountain Blessing & Luck Mechanic
Before making your daily wishes, you can raise your chances by checking your daily luck values:
- Favorable Fortune: If your daily horoscope states “Favorable Fortune for Wealth”, wishing at the fountain has a slightly increased chance of yielding gold vouchers and rare dye boxes.
- Fountain Blessing Buff: Tossing 100 Gold into the fountain once a day grants a Fountain Blessing buff (+1% luck to tool-crafting and mining rare ores for the next hour).
Summary
- Unlock the fountain at D.G. Lv.4 by completing Atara’s Town Square restoration quest.
- Jump in 10 times for the free Lucky Coin (+2% Gold permanently).
- Three pools: Standard (permanent), Limited Banner (rotating 2-week), Event Pool (seasonal exclusives).
- Always do 10-pulls — the guaranteed Uncommon+ is free value.
- F2P earns 40-65 Stars/month through daily quests, codes, milestones, and events.
- Priority: Event Pool > Limited Banner > Standard. Always pull time-limited content first.
- Pity: Soft pity at 20-30 pulls, hard Epic pity at 35-50, hard Legendary pity at 90.
- Redeem all active codes first — 20+ free Stars from our Active Codes Guide.
