Heartopia is as much about looking good as it is about farming and fishing. With hundreds of cosmetics across multiple categories, your character can be a knight, fairy, witch, or just a very well-dressed farmer. This guide covers every customization option and where to find the best looks.

Character Creation

When you first start the game, you’ll create your avatar. Don’t stress too much — everything can be changed later.

Cosmetic Categories

Every cosmetic item falls into one of six equip slots:

Functional cosmetics: A few items have gameplay effects beyond appearance. The Snowflake Sweater prevents cold slowdown in the mountains — see our Seasonal Items Guide for details. The Luxury Bed (not a cosmetic, but furniture) boosts stamina recovery — see Stamina Management.

Outfit Acquisition Methods

1. Wishing Fountain (Gacha)

The primary source of premium cosmetics. Pull with Wishing Stars for outfit sets, back accessories, and particle effects. See our Wishing Fountain Guide for the full gacha breakdown.

Wardrobe Management

The Wardrobe System

Your home includes a wardrobe (unlocked with Stage 1 housing) where you can:

  • Store unlimited cosmetics — no inventory limit
  • Preview any owned item before equipping
  • Save up to 5 outfit presets for quick switching
  • Dye items using dyes from the Wishing Fountain or shop

Save your favorite combinations as presets. Switching between farming gear, fishing outfit, and a fancy event set takes 2 seconds instead of manually re-equipping each slot.

Dye System

Dye TypeSourceEffect
Basic Dyes (10 colors)Wishing Fountain (Common), Ka Ching’s (20 Gold)Changes item to solid color
Premium Dyes (metallic, gradient)Wishing Fountain (Uncommon+)Metallic shine or color gradient
Event DyesSeasonal event shopsUnique colors not available elsewhere

Dyes are consumable — one use per item. However, re-dyeing an item overwrites the previous color, so you can change your look anytime.

Moonlight Crystal: Premium Currency

Moonlight Crystals are a secondary premium currency (separate from Wishing Stars) used for direct cosmetic purchases at the Crystal Shop in Town Square.

Best purchase: The Gender-Neutral Body unlock (15 Crystals) is the best value — it gives you access to all body types and is permanent. Save for this first. After that, Premium Hairstyles (5 each) are the most impactful for daily appearance.

Pro Tips

  1. Don’t buy basic cosmetics from Ka Ching’s. You’ll get better items for free from quests, events, and the Wishing Fountain within your first week.
  2. Event cosmetics are top priority. They’re exclusive, time-limited, and often S-Tier. See our Seasonal Events Guide for the full calendar.
  3. Save 5 outfit presets. Use them for: Farming (utilitarian), Fishing (matching rod), Bug Catching (dark colors for stealth), Social (fancy), and Events (seasonal themed).
  4. Dye coordination. Dye your outfit to match your mount or back accessory. A coordinated look stands out more than individual expensive pieces.
  5. Check the Achievement Guide. Many cosmetic items are hidden behind achievements you might already be close to unlocking — see our Achievement Guide.
  6. Pet fashion too! Don’t forget your pet can also wear outfits and accessories. See our Pet Care Guide for pet customization.

Summary

  • Character creation is fully reversible (except body type) — change face, hair, and eyes anytime at home.
  • 6 cosmetic slots: Head, Top, Bottom, Shoes, Back, Effect.
  • 5 acquisition methods: Wishing Fountain (gacha), seasonal events, NPC friendship, achievements, and shop.
  • Always prioritize event cosmetics — they’re exclusive and may not return for a year.
  • Full set bonuses grant particle effects (Royal Knight aura, Forest Fairy butterfly trail, etc.).
  • Wardrobe stores unlimited items with 5 preset slots for quick outfit switching.
  • Moonlight Crystals buy premium cosmetics — save 15 for the Gender-Neutral Body unlock first.
