In Heartopia, higher-tier tools (Bronze, Iron, and Gold) allow you to harvest advanced resources but are subject to Tool Durability. When a tool’s durability reaches zero, it breaks and is permanently lost. To prevent this, you must craft a Repair Station at your home plot. This guide covers tool lifespans, repair station setup, and repair economics.

Tool Tier Durability & Usage Limits

Every action that successfully harvests a node (e.g. chopping a tree, mining ore, tilling soil) consumes 1 Durability Point:

Tool TierMaximum DurabilityMining SpeedMaterial YieldBreak Warning
Stone (Tier 1)501.0xStandardNone
Bronze (Tier 2)1201.5xStandard + Uncommon (10%)Red flashing icon
Iron (Tier 3)2502.0xStandard + Rare (15%)Red flashing + Audio cue
Gold (Tier 4)5003.0xStandard + Legendary (20%)Full warning box

Crafting & Placing the Repair Station

The Repair Station is a specialized home placement bench. The blueprint is sold by Builder Bob for 800 Gold once you reach Crafting Level 5:

  • Crafting Recipe: Iron Bar x4 + Softwood Plank x10 + Stone x8.
  • Placement: Place the Repair Station on your home plot, near your storage chests for easy access to raw ores.

Tool Repair Kits vs Replacement Economics

You can repair a tool’s durability using Tool Repair Kits at the station:

  • Basic Repair Kit: Restores 50 Durability. Sourced from Ka Ching’s Store for 50 Gold or crafted with Copper Bar x1.
  • Advanced Repair Kit: Restores 150 Durability. Crafted with Iron Bar x1 + Coal x2.

Optimal Repair Strategy

Is it cheaper to repair or replace?

  1. Bronze Tools: Let them break and replace them. Bronze tools are cheap to craft (Bronze Bar x2) and repair kits cost almost as much as the raw bars.
  2. Iron & Gold Tools: Always repair them. Crafting a new Gold Tool requires Gold Bar x3 + Hardwood x5, whereas restoring 150 durability only costs one Advanced Repair Kit (Iron Bar x1). Never let your gold tools break completely!
